Information on Noi
Ganymede Arts' staff and board of directors are
mourning the loss of longtime benefactor and board
chairwoman Noi Chudnoff. The owner of the 14th Street
mainstay Go Mama Go! died unexpectedly Tuesday
morning.
Chudnoff experienced a head trauma Monday morning while
preparing for colon
cancer surgery. She sustained a brain hemorrhage after
falling and hitting her
head and was kept on life support until her son could
arrive from New Mexico.
"We are Ganymede Arts because of her. She was the
first person to really believe
in the company and she gave her whole heart to make it
happen," Ganymede's
Artistic Director Jeffrey Johnson said. "She was just
as dedicated to us as she was
to her store, and her generosity in time, energy,
passion, joy and knowledge that she brought
to us here at Ganymede Arts has laid the cornerstone of how we will move forward and 'seize the day.'"

Community Memorial
Saturday, November 10th, 2007
A Community Memorial was held at Source Theatre (1835 14th Street NW, same block as go mama go!) at 2PM on Saturday, November 10th. It was a time for community, friends and famliy to gather and talk about, speak publicly, sing, cry and remember Noi as the community leader that she was. There were performances by the Gay Men's Chours, Rachel Anne Warrn & Lauren Aycock-Parmentier and a reading by Kate Eastwood Norris. Councilman Jim Graham kicked off the event by reading a resolution naming Saturday, November 10th, 2007 as Noi Chudnoff Day in the District of Columbia. The event was hosted by Link, owner of of Home Rule, Sak co-owner of both Rice & Simply Home Restaurants and Jeffrey Johnson, Artistic Director of Ganymede Arts.
